I am a retired bilingual teacher. My career spanned over four decades of service to diverse communities across California. From my early days as a migrant instructional aide to teaching and leadership in bilingual schools and technology programs, I have worked to champion equity, inclusion, and student empowerment. I have degrees in Spanish, Liberal Studies with a multicultural emphasis, and Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, and I have mentored countless bilingual student teachers throughout my career.
As a longtime teacher, I have seen firsthand how difficult it can be for teachers and parents to find engaging materials that truly honor the contributions of diverse communities in the United States. That inspired me to create free educational materials: My first book, an anthology of 120 mini biographies—paired with logic puzzles. I hope to help young readers from all backgrounds discover inspiring role models, connect with their stories, and see a myriad of possibilities for their own future.
