About This Lesson
A complete lesson plan on Community Helpers. Examples and Ideas for assessments:
My students use Fill the Bucket to help with collaboration. One student each day is
chosen to pick a good deed out of the bucket each day
and when they perform it we celebrate it. We also have a
chart that allows students to fill other students buckets by
doing good deeds for them. This class really needed
clear examples of how to be good friends before we could
start working together in groups.
My students have been using the table cloth method so
they will be comfortable with the process. The groups
were created to celebrate each child’s strength. The King
and Queen were chosen because they demonstrate
responsible behaviors in our class. The Presenters were
chosen because the love to share ideas. The Recorders
were chosen due to their writing skills. The Time Keepers
were chosen because it helps them to focus and stay on
task. My ELL students may need photo prompts so those
will be provided for them to use as a reference.
