About This Lesson

This lesson begins with a review of what happened in the third part of the story. The teacher will provide direct instruction in highly frequent vocabulary words and read the final part of the storybook (pp. 20-27). Students will then engage in a chant that summarizes the entire story. Afterwards, students will write a brief summary of the final section of the story and illustrate it. Teacher notes are included towards the end of the Teacher’s Guide. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: RL.1.1, RL.1.2, RL.1.7, SL.1.1, SL.1.5, L.1.4, W.1.3
